Hands-On Control

Bring the familiar feel of real hardware to the software tools you use every day.

Built to Evolve

Four interchangeable module slots let you build the workflow you need and expand it as new modules arrive.

Built for the Studio

Built with carefully selected, professional-grade components and a rugged desktop chassis for dependable daily studio use.

Handmade in East Tennessee

Every sopsystem and SOP module is assembled by hand by our family in East Tennessee. Each unit is carefully built, inspected, and tested before it leaves our hands. This isn’t mass-produced hardware—it’s equipment built by people who care about every control, connection, and detail.

Meet the sopsystem

The sopsystem is a four-slot modular MIDI control platform built for engineers and producers who want real knobs and switches beneath their fingertips. Choose the SOP modules that match the plug-ins you use, rearrange or replace them as your workflow changes, and manage the complete system through SOP Control. It doesn’t process audio—it gives you a more natural, focused way to control the software tools already inside your studio.

Why I Built the sopsystem

I started recording music when I was 15 years old with a two-track tape deck. It wasn’t fancy, but it was where I discovered how much I loved capturing sound and shaping music.

Over the years, that tape deck became better recording equipment, audio interfaces, computers, software, and plug-ins. The technology changed dramatically, but my love for recording and mixing never did.

One day, while mixing with plug-ins, I found myself wishing I could afford the expensive analog hardware used in professional studios. I wanted to reach for a real knob, make an adjustment, and listen—without constantly staring at a computer screen. But like many musicians and home-studio owners, a room filled with thousands of dollars’ worth of hardware wasn’t realistic.

What if we could bring the familiar feel of real studio hardware to the plug-ins people already own?

That question led to Screen Off Productions and the sopsystem—a four-slot modular MIDI control platform that puts familiar controls beneath your fingertips. It doesn’t claim to make your plug-ins sound better. It gives you a more natural, focused way to control the tools you already use.

I built it for people like me—people who love real hardware, work in a modern software-based studio, and believe great tools should be within reach.

Meet our Launch Modules

The sopsystem will launch with two purpose-built modules: the SOP-2A and SOP-PE1. Each brings the familiar workflow of classic studio hardware to compatible software plug-ins through a dedicated physical layout. Use one, combine them, or change your lineup as your studio and workflow grow.

SOP-2A

The SOP-2A puts the familiar feel of a classic optical compressor beneath your fingertips. Dedicated controls for Peak Reduction, Gain, Mix, Limit/Compress, and On/Off give you hands-on control of compatible software plug-ins through SOP Control. No hunting through menus—just reach for the control you want and keep working.

SOP-PE1

The SOP-PE1 brings the familiar workflow of a classic program equalizer to your desktop. Dedicated controls for boost, attenuation, frequency, bandwidth, and On/Off give you hands-on control of compatible software plug-ins through SOP Control. Shape your sound with the same kind of deliberate, hands-on workflow that made the original hardware so intuitive to use.

Meet the SOP Control App

SOP Control is the bridge between the sopsystem and your plug-ins. Choose your installed modules, select a supported plug-in mapping, and your physical controls are ready to go. Factory-tested mappings make setup simple, while General MIDI learning and community mappings give you even more ways to control the plug-ins you already use. As the sopsystem grows, SOP Control grows with it.

You Choose What’s Next

The sopsystem keeps growing—and owners help decide where it goes next. Vote for future modules directly inside the SOP Control app and help shape what we build.

More Compressors

From fast, aggressive dynamics to smooth vintage-style compression, future modules will put even more hands-on control at your fingertips.

More EQs

More EQ designs are on the way, giving you new ways to put the familiar controls of classic studio workflows beneath your fingertips.

How the sopsystem Works

Build a control surface around the way you work. Choose your modules, connect the sopsystem, and use SOP Control to bring your supported plug-ins within easy reach.

1. Choose Your Modules

Select the SOP modules that match the plug-ins and controls you use most. Mix and match up to four modules to build the setup that fits your workflow.

2. Load Your Modules

Slide your chosen modules into the four-slot sopsystem. Its interchangeable design lets you change your hands-on control layout as your sessions and workflow change.

3. Connect and Control

Connect the sopsystem to your computer, open SOP Control, and select a supported plug-in mapping. Your modules are ready to put your plug-ins within hands-on reach.

Frequently asked questions

What is the sopsystem?

The sopsystem is a four-slot modular MIDI control platform designed to put real knobs and switches beneath your fingertips. Install the SOP modules that match your workflow, connect the sopsystem to your computer, and use SOP Control to operate compatible software plug-ins.

Does the sopsystem process audio?

No. The sopsystem does not carry, process, or alter your audio signal. It sends MIDI control data through SOP Control, allowing its physical knobs and switches to operate compatible software plug-ins already running on your computer.

How many modules can I use?

The sopsystem holds up to four interchangeable SOP modules at once. Use one module or fill all four slots, then rearrange or replace them whenever your workflow changes.

Which software and plug-ins will the sopsystem support?

The sopsystem will support compatible DAWs and software plug-ins through SOP Control. It will include factory-tested mappings for selected software, along with General MIDI learning and community-created mappings. We will publish the official compatibility list before launch and continue expanding support through updates.

What warranty is included?

Every sopsystem base and every SOP module includes a one-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Full warranty terms and service instructions will be available before ordering begins.

Are SOP modules included with the sopsystem?

SOP modules are sold separately, allowing you to choose the controls that best match your workflow. The sopsystem holds up to four modules, and you can start with one and add or swap modules as your setup grows.

When will the sopsystem be available?

The Sopsystem is currently in development as we prepare for our first production run. We’re targeting late November through early December for launch. Join the launch email list for availability updates and to be among the first to know when ordering opens.
